Welcome to Rocketeers@leseds! Our goal is to get members of LeSEDS building and launching rockets. Our 3 year long term goal is to break the university altitude record for a student built rocket.
Joey Askew and David Grey have been appointed chief rocketeers on the committee, and will take LeSEDS further into amatuer rocketry. Eventually, we'd like to build up enough expertise and experience so we can rival the work (and altitude records) of other universities around the UK.
Do you like rockets? Do you like constructing and making rockets? If so LeSEDS provides the chance for our members to attend rocket workshops. The first rocket workshop has been held and the rockets launched. Watch this space for information on upcoming workshops.
The rockets we use are currently powered by A to C class motors and are constructed by participants in a workshop. Anybody can come along, not only will rockets be judged on performance, but also presentation. So if you don't have the foggiest about centre of pressure and thrust to weight ratio just make it look good. Please e-mail rocketeers@leseds.com for more information.
96% success rate!
On Saturday 10th November, chief rocketeers Joey Askew and David Gray led 6 teams from LeSEDS who launched their rockets in Manor Road Sports Ground.
The teams were judged by our special guest from the UKSEDS committee, Vice President Rachel Newson, along with LeSEDS President Ed Bean. The final scores have now been calculated:
